Halloween Costumes

Our boys enjoyed dressing up a few different times in different costumes.  They picked one costume on Monday for class and then another one for Halloween on Wednesday.  We have accumulated a number of costumes for them to choose from over the years as they get passed down.

I am Thomas the Tank Engine...shout out to Ryan for this costume.

I've been practicing my webslinging, one of these days it just might work.

Our creative dinner by Joy, all the food started with a "P" for pumpkin.

Jango and Boba Fett with an Episode III Clone Trooper from the 501st.

In case you couldn't figure out who we were under the masks.

I chose this costume in honor of Daddy's favorite Star Wars character.

I wanted to be in league with my brother.

Preparing to shoot down the aliens in the rocket at church.  You know nothing out of the ordinary.

I went fishing for some gummy worms, I try to go back to this one because frankly I just love the treat.

Halloween Fun

We came home from vacation to find three wonderful pumpkins on our front porch already made into characters.  How fun was that?  The boys immediately knew which ones belonged to who and there was NO arguing which was amazing to both of us.  Thanks to the Kelly's for the special treat.

Joy and Garrett participated in the Halloween 5K fun run to support a local running club's outreach to at-risk teens.  They completed the run in just over 41 minutes.  The key was that you were supposed to compete dressed up, so they chose appropriate Star Wars themed costumes without masks:  Joy was Princesss Leia and Garrett was Anakin Skywalker from Clone Wars.  Garrett's funny comment at 7am when he was aroused from sleep to start the race was "Who is awake at this time of day and to run of all things?"

Sears - The Numbers

We almost forgot to do our yearly pictures with the age numbers, so when Aunt Alecia was out here for Tough Mudder, she went with Joy to get the pictures of the boys done.  They performed admirably and we are going to hire Alecia to come out and help with pictures next year...

Garrett 7y 5mo

Garrett is ready for fall.  He knows this means pumpkins, leaf raking, cooler weather, and the World Series.  Brett has been trying to tell him to enjoy every moment of the World Series and savor the Giants victory because you never know when it is going to happen again.  Granted he has now seen two championships in the last three years which as Joy says means they practically win every year.  Garrett watched every moment of Game 4 and couldn't wait until he could tell Daddy all about it the next morning after Brett got home from work.  He truly remembers many events of the game which is great for Brett to appreciate that he has developed a sports watcher and fan.  Garrett has continued to train on the treadmill for his first outdoor race which happened this month in the form of a 5K.  Here is to more training in the future.

Can we get both of these pumpkins?

I'm strong, but this pumpkin is heavy.
Either I'm getting bigger or the pumpkins are getting smaller.
I tried the tricycle, but I was too big...
...so I graduated to the go-kart.  Let's race.

You can't take the gymnast out of me.
I am having fun on Kauai...can we live here?

My art assignment from Daddy...corral rock art.

Still one of my favorite activities on the beach is construction vehicles.

But I really enjoyed seeing all the fish while snorkeling, including the Humuhumu nukumuku apuaa.

Bryce 5y 3mo

As Yoda says:  "Always in motion is the future."  Well this could apply to Bryce who is constantly in motion too.  Bryce is coming up with new expressions and new ways to burn off his energy.  This is entertaining and sometimes exhausting.  But you certainly couldn't diagnose him with ADHD when he sits down and colors meticulously in his brand new bird book for two hours straight with the finest detail.  He really is taking to drawing and now coloring his drawings as well.  He loves to sit down and write things when he decides to.  The other day he sat down and wrote out the entire alphabet and numbers 1-40 just because he wanted to.  Give him some baseball cards, and he will spend hours organizing them into teams (sound like his dad a little).  He is a little organizer, even if it sometimes leads to chaos before the organization is achieved.

Grammy would think I am doing the specterman pose, so here is for the memory.

I just hid my brother behind that pumpkin so you can't find him.

Ouch, I just sat on the stem of the pumpkin!

Now that my brother got bumped to the next level, I can dominate at the tricycle level.
I am ready for snorkeling!  Let's go.
So if you will make your way over to the map, I will show you the island of Kauai and I am pointing to Waimea Canyon where you can go on a great hike.

Sand ball coming at you.

Who turned the cold water on!

Griffin 3y 6mo

Griffin has seen some real benefits of getting older and bigger this month.  He was eligible to ride on the tricycles at Del Osso.  He made his first trip to Hawaii.  His handwriting is getting better so there are more things that he can do in our homeschool academy.  Okay maybe you wouldn't consider getting to start doing kindergarten work two years early to be an advantage, but he thinks it is and that is what counts now.  He is beginning to understand that soccer is as much having skills to control the ball and kick it hard as it is to prevent others from taking the ball from you and how to get it back legally.  Currently he likes to play a little tackle soccer when the ball is taken from him...well we have a year to teach him before he starts playing in league.

I look older, I know it.

Which pumpkin is the best?  I'm not sure, there are so many good ones...
...this one is pretty good.

Can you believe this pumpkin is strong enough to hold my weight?

Ok, you've taken so many pictures, you're gonna get a tongue stuck out at you for one of these.

First year racing the tricycles, I held my own.
Maybe I had a little problem seeing with the helmet...I crashed a couple times, but I got myself back up.

I can climb into the fridge to get anything I need now.
Whoop, Mommy's sandals are a little big for me.

I think I can fly...look out low flying aircraft!

Sand angels!

Did I remind you that I am super cute and adorable?

Ugghh, water enema.

Is this the stuff you don't want me to throw?

Construction vehicles in the sand is pretty much all it is cracked up to be.
Mommy calls this my school picture this year.
