Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving with Grammy and Poppy on Wednesday on our way home from San Francisco after we had stopped by the Jungingers and shared stories with them. We also honored Grammy for her birthday which had taken place a few days prior as well.  Brett then went on to work Thanksgiving at the hospital, but came home to the wonderful aroma of a freshly baked apple pie!

Our San Francisco Adventure

Taking advantage of staying in the city, we investigated Golden Gate Heights, the Tiled Steps, Pier 39, and Lombard Street.  We had some amazing weather to take in the sites from high places and showed the kids that there are places of rest that can be found even in a big city.

In the background, you can make out the tip of the Golden Gate Bridge (left), Golden Gate Park (center), and downtown (right).

The Pacific Ocean is behind us from the top of the Tiled Steps.

Beginning our trek up the 183 steps.

At the top by the sun!

We stopped at a Crepe place in Oakland near where Brett did his residency for dinner on our way into San Francisco, it was delicious.

Nov 2021 Giants Fantasy Camp at Oracle

Brett joined Team Felder and ended up pitching 11 of the 16 innings that his team played in.  He picked up two wins in three games, throwing about 150 pitches over those 11 innings in the two-day camp.  His team faced Team Barr in the championship game under the lights, losing 5-2.  Interestingly, Jacob Reid was recruited by Brett to go to camp and was supposed to be on the same team as him, but ended up playing against each other in the championship game with each of them striking out the other on curveballs.  Brett went 4-for-6 during the three games at the plate.

Jacob, fully decked out in A's gear, pitches to Brett in the 4th inning of the championship game.

Brett congratulates John Dean as he comes in to score.

Brett performed the fire drill, but Brian Butcher says I'll take it myself to the bag for the putout.

Brett had thrown 84 pitches through 5 innings in the championship game.

He finished with just over 90 pitches in his 6 inning complete game.

Dr. Barandica, a longtime ER doctor from DMC where both Brett and Joy have worked,  takes a family photo for us; he was there to watch his nephews:  Sisco and Moser who were on Brett's team.

Not often you have access to the Jim Beam baseline box, so Poppy and the boys took advantage.

We got our first win, who's next?

Thank you Coach Felder!

Brett got hit by a pitch, but opted to take it as a ball and continue the at-bat, he would go on to single.
