San Diego Family Fun

Daddy tried to stay dry, but the three of us were all in it for the wet fun.

Daddy, you don't need to hold onto me, I can do this one handed, it's Griffin you need to worry about, he's never done this before.

Grammy and Poppy were a little worried about my lean to the outside, but this was all for the sake of a good picture.

Now that I've got the hang of it, I will release one of my hands...there that's pretty good, now hurry up and take the picture.

I loved Shamu! Can I take him home with me?

Daddy is about to take me on that crazy lookin' roller coaster...are we gonna get wet?

I don't know who actually took this picture, but we should've paid them for it because we were all looking and smiling--miracle.

We all liked the lego Bob the Builder, but we couldn't take any pieces off of him?

I qualified for this ride by simply walking three steps, good thing I was all practiced up the week before!

I enjoyed my special Mommy time on this ride, can we ride again?

I really liked bouncing around with cousin Haley.

We all met Shamu before his big show, I told him he looks a lot bigger on stage.

Daddy who is this supposed to be? Whoever he is, he sure is cute and cuddly.

Where are we going Rachel, and why are we holding hands?

This month featured the long awaited family vacation which included Brett's parents and his sister's family as well. We all rented places right along Mission Bay in San Diego. We were just five steps across the bike path from the beach. Now that is good accomodations! We all went to Legoland and Wild Animal Kingdom together on two consecutive days, then later on in the week we ventured to SeaWorld with Wendy and James. We ate together, played together, and walked together. Action packed but with some good relaxation as well. We even survived a 5.7 magnitude earthquake that hit while we were down there. Garrett originally thought the elephants from the zoo escaped and followed us to our place.

Berry Picking

Last year, we had such a good time picking blueberries that we had to return again this year and even try some strawberry picking too. This time Joy braved it without Brett, but had her friend Jill and daughter Lauryn along. As usual, there was a lot of eating of berries as the picking occurred and there may have been some loose stools for a few days following, but those are some good berries.

Good thing I didn't have any berries in my favorite yellow colored bucket when I turned it into my hat!

Wow, brother, you have some good berries left in your bucket...mmmm...I already ate all of mine.

I've got a lot of berries that I picked Mommy? Oh, I guess I ate most of them...ooops.

I thought this was full a minute ago. Where did they all go...Bryce!

One for me, and one for the basket...I hope we do this again next year.

June 2010

June brought a nice family vacation to San Diego where we visited some amusement parks, spent time on the beach, and visited with family and friends. We celebrated father's day by putting the boys bunk bed together. Garrett graduated from preschool and we began some of our summer activities. You know a typically uneventful month for us.

Garrett 5y

Garrett thought that turning 5 was so great that he is ready to have his 6 year old birthday next month! He finished off his teeball season with a bang, saving some of his best hits for last. He has also enjoyed finding out about Garrett Wittels 56-game hitting streak at Florida International University. He figures if other Garretts can do it, so can he. On his actual birthday, Garrett had a donut breakfast with Mommy, tea party with Grammy at preschool, and played in a teeball game. Garrett found out a little more about his new school next year, taking a trip to Hickman Charter to have a reading placement exam--well he enjoyed the test and is anxious to start his new school this fall. He is also enjoying the challenge of putting lego sets together and following each direction and finding the pieces he needs to complete each step. Now if they wouldn't break apart when they crash land...

Check it out, I just scored the go-ahead run, and my pants are still WHITE!

Thanks for coming to see me play Grammy and Poppy.

After Mommy produced another great cake for #5, I can't wait to see my six year old cake!

I'm going on a bug hunt, do you want to come with me?

Not only did I get to wear a #5 hat, but I got some really cool Star Wars wrapping paper...should I tell you all the guys I know on there?

Daddy may have been sitting with me, but I put this whole thing together by following the directions!

Bryce 2y 22mo

After watching both of his brothers celebrate their birthdays, Bryce is pretty sure that his time is coming very soon, but it can't come soon enough. He is planning and selecting his party theme, but he seems to change his mind about as much as he changes shoes. He's been excited to learn more and more letters and shapes and will often stop to point some out if you are paying attention. He has been served notice that he has 1.5 months to accomplish potty training so that he can qualify for summer swimming lessons. We'll see if this is a motivating factor...

Is my smile cuter now that I have a scar on my forehead to counter-balance it?

I was so distraught that Garrett wasn't joining me in the Kids Fan Lot, that I just couldn't remember how to stand in the batters box...and then I ran to third first...

Oh, if you only knew what I've been up to, then you would fully understand the smile I'm showing you...

Who said I couldn't dunk a basketball...thanks for the lift Dad.

Griffin 1y 1mo

After turning one, Griffin was ready to add another month to his age. He is now walking multiple steps and even bending over to pick up balls/toys and popping right back up to a standing position. He enjoys spaghetti almost more than anything else, especially when it is ground up a little bit. He liked getting some toys of his own that he could use as bargaining chips to get to play with some "big kid" toys like Transformers and Star Wars. He continues to make more noises and seems to be trying to speak. He is clearly pointing at things he wants and has sporadically used some sign language. He loves to cruise around and if the door is open will explore outside as much as we'll let him.

Oh yeah, I could do this present thing a little longer.

I got a chance to pet Max, she actually laid still enough for me to ruffle her fur a little. Yeah.

You would think that I have blue gloves and a blue beard painted on...well I have to admit I did it and it was a lot of fun...you want some cake?

What am I supposed to do with that, Mommy? Oh, this is fun and tasty.

...and a little more blue frosting here, and a little more there...hey who ate one of the eyes off Cookie Monster?

Are you gonna love to eat some of this cake...you bet, my Mommy made it!

Shhh, Garrett doesn't know I've got his camera...now how do you use this thing?

I'm showing Uncle James that I've got some rhythm.

Alert...naked boy on the loose!

Here we go, I'm taking you for a walk.

Giants Game

We all took in a day game at AT&T Park to see the Giants face off against the Astros with beautiful weather. We saw a quick paced Giants victory that ended with a 13 pitch at-bat with the bases loaded and one run lead. As Kruk and Kuip say: "Giants baseball...torture!" Tim and Christie and their daughter Kaylee joined us for the game.

I don't know what Bryce's problem was, I kept telling him that we were rooting for the Giants and they won!

An apple a day keeps the Astros away...

Tim and Christie helped with our all Giants jersey row! When do we get to meet your new little guy?

Kaylee, did I tell you that you look great in that Giants sweatshirt?

Daddy, the players look a lot bigger on TV...how come they're so small here?

How to get my brothers to sit still at a ballgame...give us food and juice boxes...that is until we have to go to the bathroom because we drank too much.

I'm big enough to sit in a cable car seat now...and I'm big enough to reach the cable car bell!

And I'm big enough, but not too big (like Garrett) to play in the Giants kid lot where I hit the ball and ran the bases.

Oh, Mommy wants us all to look at the hot dog on Daddy's head...yes you have our attention, we're hungry.
