Remodeling

The biggest project of the last two months was the start of a home remodelling that started out as a way of keeping our feet cleaner and getting rid of carpet under our dining room table. Well, one thing led to another and we found ourselves moving our entire house in two halves over two weeks. I'm still not sure how we did that, but what I can tell you is that we lost out on a lot of sleep that we could have been achieving. The end result was new laminate in the kitchen and dining room, new carpet in most of the rest of the house, new baseboards, crown molding, and new paint in most of the house. The kids tried to "help" as much as they could. We are still in the process of putting everything back, or sorting through what really needs to go back.

Griffin was given the job of supervisor, and I heard that Mommy and Daddy would have loved that job...

Both Bryce and I jumped at the chance to do some demolition work. Are we doing this right, Tim?

Daddy, do you think we should just rip up the carpet and use the really old floor underneath?

Awwwwhh, nice new carpet feels so good to stretch out on.

With new floors, come new rules...we're learning.

Go Nuts

We took the whole family to the Modesto Nuts baseball game which featured an all-you-can-eat pregame meal, which sounded better than it actually was. Our Bible Study joined us there and we saw some pretty entertaining baseball before the kids decided it was time to sleep. At least this time Bryce wasn't as scared of the Nuts' mascots...Play ball.

Hey, how come I'm not in this picture? Oh I guess I was running around playing ball with Sam. Bryce how come you didn't smile, again!

Griffin was pretty much glued to Mommy's lap, but I was excited to watch the game with Daddy and my friend Bryce next to me.

Spirit West Coast 09

We took our almost yearly trip to Spirit West Coast at Laguna Seca near Monterey. We had three days to experience the full variety of concerts from folk bands to soloists to rock to head-banging grunge. This was the first year we had a large shade structure for the day time which was nice. We met up with some friends down there and also enjoyed some time at the Dennis the Menace playground.

All of us boys had our load to pull, including Daddy who carried the heaviest one, but he said it was a lot more efficient this year.

I think I might learn to skateboard one of these years, or I'll be really happy eating lots of corn on the cob.

Griffin enjoyed a little one on one time with Mommy, while Daddy and I were just being downright silly and loving it.

I think I can make it over the wall, I think I can...Hey Larryboy, are you supposed to have hands?

Bryce and I both found friendly animals to get acquainted with, fortunately they didn't share any of their, you know, stuff with us...

Bryce and I started to practice our new dance video idea for Toby Mac.

This is how you lift up your hands in praise, right Mommy?

A view from our seats, do you think we can be on stage next year?

Bundled up and warm--boy, my brothers sure look comfy.

Yes, it can get cold at night, good thing Mommy and Daddy get us changed into winter wear for the night portion.

Mommy, why does Griffey look like he is limp? But how could he sleep at such a cool park like this?

Luke has nothing on me with his super duper macrobinoculars!

Here I come, look out below.

August 2009

Nothing like adventures all month long including the zoo, camping, concert festivals, and a little remodelling project. We met up with some old friends and had a visit from Grandpa. Plus Garrett started preschool and Joy went back to work after a 6 month long maternity leave. Yikes! We still managed to take a few pictures despite our camera having a fatal fall requiring manual focusing and zooming past partially closed shutters. Check out this month's happenings.

Garrett 4y 2mo

Garrett enjoyed getting to have another birthday party this month (family one was in May). He has been working on his swimming and soccer skills this month, but his favorite thing to do is imaginative play. Brett found some old VCR videos of Transformers, GoBots, and GI Joe that Garrett began to watch. He now imagines that any of his hot wheels or airplanes can transform and he even runs and then dives down into a folded up mode. Who would've thought that cartoons from 20 years ago could still be a hit? Garrett also got to go with Brett to a Giants game this month along with his friend Noah and dad Josh.

Ohhhh, fireworks aren't that bad when they aren't right on top of you.

Practicing my headfirst slide!

Noah and I loved going to the ballgame with our dads...we're just not sure our dads saw much of the game.

I got to ring a cable car bell and hit in the mini-AT&T Park.

After the game, Noah and I ran around the REAL bases, I think we scored more runs than the Giants did on this day.

I think I'm the perfect size for a clone trooper!

I love being an older brother, I like to hold or lay next to Griffey!

I got caught swimming too fast.
See there are plenty of advantages to having some laminate samples lying around. Eventually Mommy and Daddy will make up their mind...

My VBS buddies from church: me, Noah, Dillon, Jace.

Kaylee and I check out the faire after VBS on Friday.

Here Bryce, open up!

Messy with some serious stickiness and too cool all in the same day.

I got a whole bunch of shots, wow, but supposedly no more (except flu shots) until I'm 12 years old. At least I got some cool band-aids to show off in the process.

Head down to kick and head up to breathe while swimming: I'm learning some fundamentals.

I'm certainly not afraid of heights, at least when I know there is fun to be had.
