The Hospitalist group was having a hard time with Brett leaving, so when they were going to have a going away party, they decided to turn it into a retirement party. This caused some interesting comments about Brett being too young to retire, which is true. But then he rolled with it and said that he was retiring from hospital medicine. The transition begins, but he had to say goodbye first. He was blessed to get a send off from some of his retired former partners as well as a few nurses, case manager, and current partners. Griffin took the opportunity to produce a short video of the party for an ICC project--what a great job he did of editing and putting things together. But then Bryce and Griffin (along with Jake) were stuck walking around the hospital and visiting the nursing floors to say goodbye and deliver some Sconza pumpkin spice almonds and chocolate coated fruit. Funny thing was that right before the party, Brett got word that one of the insurance companies wasn't going to credential Brett until December, so it was unclear when he was going to be able to start his new job of helping to see county patients who have been on a long waiting list. But when you have people who know people and know how to communicate well (Joy), that speed bump was quickly smoothed over with a well written, timely email. The approval came through the very next day.
