On the fourth, we were in Idaho still, so we celebrated by attending a show in downtown Boise at the fairgrounds. Great show, good food, but the 45 minutes in the parking lot without moving an inch afterward put a slight damper on the experience. We had much more fun celebrating with our own fireworks on the few days leading up to the fourth and the few days afterward. The Robobats and flying lady bugs were great, but the mortars and hand launched bottle rockets were highlights for the boys.
The day began by participating in a local parade by entering Grandpa's Model A and tossing candy out along the parade route. We also got to see Tim and Christie, our former softball teammates and Bible studymates, from back in California for an afternoon BBQ and get together.

We visited Tim and Christie for a BBQ and hanging out--good to see their new house and how their kids are growing.
Uncle Roger drove Grandpa's Model A in the local Fourth of July parade in honor of him. The boys rode in the back and tossed candy out to those along the parade path.
Placing decorations on the Model A to put it in the Independence Day mood.
Grandma and Gramps along with Aunt Jeannette sat along the parade route waiting for us to come by.
Mom and Christy found some good spots to camp out too.
Sparkler action, go!
Smoke bombs away!
Some old fashioned snakes...
Watching from the berm, before running after the Robobats.
